Work History
Staked Jul/73 as Gus cl 1-20 (Y69666) by Serem Ltd on behalf of Bergminex and Associates Joint Venture (Boliden Aktiebolag, Preussag Aktiengesellschaft, Hillman Group and Serem Ltd), which carried out mapping and geochem sampling in 1974. Adjoining claims staked in Aug/73 include Liz cl 1-8 (Y69686) and Liz cl 17-24 (Y69702) staked by Cream Silver Mines Ltd, Liz cl 33-42 (Y69718) and Liz cl 49-58 (Y69734) staked by Command Resources Ltd and Tye cl 1-20 (Y69892) staked by Belmoral Mines Ltd and Maverick Mountain Resources Ltd.
The adjoining Oro cl (Y88500) of Kariba Mines Ltd and Dalton Development Ltd, and Hart cl (Y86606) of Inland Copper Ltd, were tied on the north in May/74. The Cream and Belmoral claims were explored with mapping in 1974.
Capsule Geology
The occurrence lies in a fault-bounded northwest-trending strip of Upper Proterozoic to Lower Paleozoic rocks, and is underlain by Upper Proterozoic Risky Formation dolomite.
On the Gus group, sphalerite occurs in two horizons 6 m apart, separated by quartzite, near the top of the Risky Formation dolomite. The mineralization occurs with quartz and calcite in crystal-lined vugs. Minor galena occurs in fractures.
Both Command Resources and Cream Silver outlined lead-zinc geochem anomalies. Cream discovered several areas of sphalerite-bearing float and traced it to bedrock in one place. The best selected sample assayed 3.3% Zn. No anomalies were found on the Tye claims.
