Work History
G. Van Bibber staked the Bob cl (Y33300) in March/70 about 2.4 km to the southwest. First staked as Ale cl (YA1157) in Aug/75 by Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation Ltd, which conducted mapping and geochem sampling later in the year.
Capsule Geology
The region is underlain by a metamorphosed and altered sequence of Early Proterozoic Wernecke Supergroup clastic and carbonate rocks (Fairchild Lake Group, Quartet Group and Gillespie Lake Group, from oldest to youngest) that are intruded by Early to Middle Proterozoic mafic sills and dykes, and cut by Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia. To the east, Wernecke Supergroup rocks are unconformably overlain by Middle Proterozoic Pinguicula Group rocks.
Mineralization consists of pyrite, galena and sphalerite in open-space fillings in brecciated Gillespie Lake dolostone. Soil samples contained up to 3.0% Zn and 0.7% Pb. The showings occur over a strike length of 488 m and are on trend with, and resemble, similar showings at the Geordie occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #106C 004) on the east side of the Bonnet Plume River. New mapping by Thorkelson (2000) revealed a small Wernecke Breccia body near the occurrence.
The Bob group was staked near a narrow Proterozoic(?) diorite dike that cuts the dolostone.
