Work History
First staked as Doris cl (14276) in Sep/21 by O. Bjonnes and later explored by a 30 m adit and hand trenching. Restaked as Lake A cl (61801) in Jul/51 by A. St Louis and as Moon cl (80513) in Jul/60 by J. Strebchuk, who sold them to J. Priest in Jul/62.
The Moon group was trenched in 1963 and became the subject of a lengthy trial in 1963-64. A 56 tonne shipment of ore assaying over 68 570 g/t Ag made by J. Priest in 1963 was claimed to have been won from a boulder of rich float found near the adit in 1962. Priest was convicted in 1964 of stealing the ore from the Elsa mine of United Keno Hill ML (Minfile 105M 001). The claims were subsequently transferred to Colonial Mines Ltd, which drilled 3 holes (27.4 m) in 1965.
Nova Silver Mines Ltd staked the Nova cl (82274) to the south in Jul/62 and transferred them to Peso Silver Mines Ltd and Silver Titan Mines Ltd in Nov/62 and to Duncan Ladue Mines Ltd in Jul/64. C. Warm staked the adjoining Space cl (83036) in Jul/63.
W. Malicky restaked the Moon showing as WM cl (YI4446) in Mar/68 and as CM cl (Y33329) in Apr/70, which he transferred to W.S. Howden and D.M. Vigouret, respectively.
Extensive fringe staking includes Axe cl (Y33011) in Sep/69 by Highland Valley Mines Ltd; Millsite cl (Y56377) in Oct/71 by Y. Bull, who transferred title to J. Aitken and M. Rumberg; WK and Rocco cl (Y69081) in Nov/73 and Cat cl (Y88570) in May/74 by Torbruce Exploration Ltd; Bank cl (Y69391) in Jun/73 by Laurasia Resources Ltd, which transferred title to Decker Lake Mines Ltd; Millsite cl (Y88420) in May/74 by J. Mandraus; and a large block of BE cl (YA39220) to the north in Mar/79 by Canada Tungsten Mining Corporation Ltd. Work since 1965 has consisted mainly of bulldozer trenching - by Vigouret in 1975-78, Mandaus in 1975-78, Torbruce in 1974-80, and Decker Lake in 1975-78. Cantung performed geochemical and geophysical surveys in 1979-81.
Restaked as Ore cl (YA76696) in Jul/82 by T. Casten; as MT cl (YA76663) in Jul/82 by W. Malicky, who trenched in 1983; and as Monday cl 1-6 (YA83745) in Sep/87 by R. Nixon, who carried out grid surveying in 1989 and hand trenching in 1990.
Restaked as Silver Moon cl 1-4 (YB29396) in Nov/92 by W. Malicky, who carried out trenching in Sept/93. Malicky restaked the occurrence as Todd cl 1 and Overtime cl 1 (YB44067) in Mar/95 and as Todd cl 1 (YB65554) and Try Again cl 1 (YB65553) in Jul/96.
D. Jablonski staked KD cl 1-10 (YB65862) to the east and south in Sep/96. In Aug/97, R. Fischer staked B cl 13-102 (YB81305) to surround the occurrence and carried out property wide prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 2001 and 2002 and geophysical surveying of the central portion of the claim block, including the occurrence, in 2002.
Capsule Geology
The occurrence is located in the drift covered Ladue valley. The area is reportedly underlain by Devonian to Mississippian aged Earn Group carbonaceous phyllites and numerous deformed sills of Triassic greenstone, meta-diorite and gabbro cut by Late Cretaceous porphyritic aplite dykes and sills. Two northeasterly trending faults have been mapped on the B claims.
The showing, located on the Try Again claim consists of a caved adit and waste dump. A longitudinal fissure vein, trending 045¿ and dipping 85¿W is exposed at the contact between phyllite and a porphyritic apalite sill. Mineralization consists of galena, sphalerite and pyrite and is apparently similar to typical Keno Hill style mineralization. A gold bearing quartz vein mineralized with arsenopyrite, galena and sphalerite is also exposed at the adit. Peak values for samples collected from the adit area are 8.0% Pb, 7.9% Zn, 586 g/t Ag and 5.2 g/t Au and were returned from mineralized aplite.
Stream sediment samples collected from moss mats along Faro Gulch, which drains across the area of the showing and other known deposits further upstream, returned consistently high values with peaks of 730 ppb Au, >30 ppm Ag, >10 000 ppm Pb, 1 318 ppm Zn and 1 035 ppm As.
Five northeast trending VLF-EM conductors were identified during surveying in 2002 all of which paralleled or were on trend with the mineralized structure exposed in the Moon adit, suggesting continuity of the feature over the entire 2.5 km length of the grid
