Work History

Staked as Eagle cl (13380) in Sep/20 by S. Thurber, who explored by hand pitting and two shafts (19.2 m total) in 1923 and 1929-30. Restaked in Oct/34 as Eagle cl 1 (38815) by J.R. Clark and Eagle cl 2 (38811) by A. McLeod, who carried out bulldozer trenching. E.M. Flynn completed a 10.7 m shaft in 1951-52.
Sold in Apr/55 to Jersey Yukon Mines Ltd, which carried out bulldozer trenching in 1955, 1963 and 1964 and drilled 29 holes (1 999.8 m) in 1964. Part of the 1964 work was financed through a joint venture with Conwest Exploration Company Ltd. Jersey Yukon changed its name to Jersey Consolidated Mines Ltd in 1964 and to Holofile Technology Inc in 1976.
Fringe claims staked in the area include, Joan cl (Y55572) to the northeast in Feb/71 by United Keno Hill Mines Ltd; and Fly cl (Y68383) and Ant cl (Y68381) to the northwest and east in Aug/72 by D.L. Smith. United Keno Hill carried out soil geochemical sampling of the Joan claim in Sep/72.
The Eagle claims were optioned in 1978 to Brameda Resources Ltd, which drilled 2 holes (429.2 m) later in the year, merged into Teck Corporation and carried out geochemical surveying and drilled 4 holes (646.5 m) in 1979.
D. Tenney staked Kay cl 2 (YB65551) to the east in Jul/96.
W.D. Mann staked the Blue cl (YC01993) 2.5 km to the east in Sep/99 and carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling.
In Jul/2001, Mann restaked the Fly, Joan and Ant claims as Spider, Man and Ag cl (YC02773) respectively and carried out limited geochemical sampling in 2002.
Avino Silver and Gold Mines Ltd acquired the Eagle claims from Teck in exchange for shares by late in 2003.
Mega Silver optioned the Eagle claims from Avino Silver and Gold Mines Ltd. in 2008. Mega Silver also optioned the Spider, Man and Ag claims, contiguous with the Eagle claims. The 2008 program for Mega Silver's Eagle Project included an airborne magnetic gradiometer and VLF electromagnetic survey over the entire claim holding in the area. Geochemical soil surveys were conducted on the Spider, Man and Ag claims as well as the Fisher claims. Limited geological mapping on the property was carried out.

Capsule Geology

The Eagle vein is a strong, transverse-type vein-fault cutting Early Carboniferous Keno Hill Quartzite near the thrust faulted contact with overlying phyllite and psammite of the Upper Proterozoic Hyland Group. The vein is 50% exposed over a length of 300 m. It varies from 0.6 to 4.9 m wide and is mineralized with erratic lenses of galena, tetrahedrite and sphalerite. Only two significant intersections were obtained in the 1964 drilling. The first, from a branch structure, graded 1 885.7 g/t Ag, 12.8% Pb and 4.2% Zn across 2.1 m. The second, from the main vein at depth, graded 7 624.9 g/t Ag and 1.2% Pb from 15 cm of core, followed by 682.3 g/t Ag and 11.6% Pb from 0.4 m of core.
Soil sampling on the adjoining Joan claim in 1971 revealed a strong Pb-Ag anomaly across the southern boundary of the claim that apparently represents a northeast extension of the Eagle vein. The core of the anomaly, which is open to the southwest onto Eagle cl 1, is approximately 200 by 100 m and contains peak values of 2 280 ppm Pb and 10.8 ppm Ag.
The 1978 and 1979 holes explored a 182.9 m length of the Eagle vein through a vertical range of 243.8 m. The holes cut a complex, branching, and weakly mineralized vein. The best intersection was 366.8 g/t Ag, 5.4% Pb and 6.8% Zn across 1.5 m in Hole JB3.
Mann¿s sampling in 2002 was carried out along the boundary between the Man (formerly Joan) claim and the Ag claim and along their claim line and returned anomalous values for Pb and Ag (508 and 2.7 ppm, respectively) in the range obtained previously by United Keno Hill Mines in 1971.
Further to the east on the Blue claim an old adit probably dating from the 1920's has exposed a narrow quartz vein containing siderite, calcite, pyrite, galena and sphalerite has intruded a vein fault which is exposed along the cliff face for approximately 25 m. A single grab sample of vein material returned 220.5 g/t Ag and 7.11% Pb. Reconnaissance soil sampling across the claim returned generally low values, except for one sample near the western edge of the claim that returned 53 ppb Au.
The Blue claim lies directly south of the Moth vein fault system, which occurs in a low lying area southeast of Christal Lake. It consists of a breccia and sheeted vein zone which has been traced northeast from Lightening Creek for approximately 750 m. United Keno Hill Mines Ltd (1997) identified an open pittable resource (referred to as a probable reserve) of 15 184 tonnes grading 654.8 g/t Ag, 1.82% Pb and 6.41% Zn for the Flame and Moth mine.
The detailed geochemical survey performed by Mega Silver over the Spider, Man and Ag claims in 2008 produced a strong coincident silver-lead-zinc-arsenic-antimony anomaly extending 350 m across the Man claim.
