Work History
Staked as A & B cl (Y98930) in Jun-Nov/75 by Karma Ventures Inc. (Swim Lake ML), which conducted a gravity survey later in 1975 and mapping and geochem surveys in 1976 before optioning the property to Can. Natural Res L, which drilled 2 holes (420 m) on claims A2 and B2 in 1977.
Anvil-Fishook JV (Amax Potash L, Aquitaine & Union OL) tied on over 200 AM cl (YA4830) to cover airborne EM & mag anomalies in Aug/76, performed linecutting, geochem and EM surveys in 1976, conducted gravity surveys and enlarged the property with BM & PM cl in 1977, and explored with max-min, mag and grid geochem surveys in 1978, gravity and Turanm surveys in 1979, and 7 holes (1073 m) in 1980.
Capsule Geology
The claims are underlain by northwest-striking Cambro-Ordovician phyllite, calcsilicate and metabasite. Phyllite in the northeastern part contains quartz-graphite and sericite-graphite members with minor pyrite and pyrrhotite. Hole 2, which was drilled in 1977 to test a zinc soil anomaly, encountered about 1% pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite in quartz-sericite phyllite with graphitic and biotitic horizons.
The 1980 drillholes tested EM anomalies and intersected phyllite, sericite schist and quartz- biotite-andalusite schist. Three holes near the east end of the AM claims encountered 1 to 2% pyrite and pyrrhotite plus rare chalcopyrite in all rock types, while 4 holes at the west end cut rocks with little sulphide except for a few horizons containing up to 10% pyrrhotite with minor pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite. The best assays were 1155 ppm Zn over 1.5 m in Hole 4 and 1660 ppm Pb over 0.3 m in Hole 7.
