Work History
Staked as DEV cl (YA19591) in Aug/77 by the Woodside Project (Getty and Welcome North), which explored with trenching, geochem sampling and 2 x-ray holes (50 m) in 1977 and extensive mapping and geochem sampling in 1978.
G. Carlson staked COM cl (YA75603) about 8 km to the west in May/83, probably to protect surface rights. M. Vainio staked the CMU claims (YB27517) 1 km to the northeast in May, 1990.
Capsule Geology
Galena, sphalerite, pyrite and traces of chalcopyrite occur in sideritic zones in siliceous and graphitic slate assigned to the Ordovician to Lower Devonian Road River Formation. Two main mineralized areas, known as the the Wet and Mag showings, were investigated.
The Wet showing consists of sphalerite and galena in boudins and bands of siderite in phyllite while the Mag showing consists of similar mineralization disseminated in quartz-calcite stringers which cut massive siderite beds.
The best assay from a selected specimen was 12% Zn and 14.0 g/t Ag. Chip samples ranged up to 1.3% Pb, 0.3% Zn and 10.3 g/t Ag across 0.9 to 4.6 m widths. The best core assays were 1.7% Zn across 1.5 m in Hole 1 and 1.1% Pb across 1.5 m in Hole 2.
