Work History
Staked as 60 Beaver, Cessna and Major claims (67560) in Dec/53 by G.F. Dickson, who drilled 15 holes (331 m) in 1955. Restaked as Gal cl 1-44 (92021) in Mar/65 by Dynasty Explorations Ltd, which transferred the claims to Anvil Mining Corporation Ltd later in the year. The claims were subsequently transferred to Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation.
Control of Cyprus Anvil was sold to Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Ltd, who later transferred its interest to Dome Petroleum Ltd in 1981. Dome's interest was sold in 1985 to Curragh Resources Inc and in Nov/94 Anvil Range Mining Corporation acquired all claims owned by Curragh following the bankruptcy of the latter.
Anvil Range undertook a compilation study, between Aug/97 and Feb/98, to gather together all known geological data, including standardizing geological map units and accurately locating drill holes located within and surrounding their claim holdings. Only two reports, one of which covers claims assigned to this occurrence, were completed before Anvil Range encountered financial difficulties and terminated the project.
In Jan/98 Anvil Range filed for court protection in order to restructure the company. In Jan/99 Anvil Range¿s stock was delisted and the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.
Capsule Geology
The claims are underlain by Lower Cambrian noncalcareous schist and phyllite of the Mount Mye formation and Cambrian to Ordovician Vangorda formation shaly limestone and calcareous phyllite. The basal Vangorda formation is represented by a carbonaceous phyllite which contains mineralized sulfide horizons in the Grum (Minfile Occurrence #105K 056) and Dy (Minfile Occurrence #105K 101) deposits. No mineralization was reported.
