Work History

Staked as JB cl 1-10 (86074) in Apr/64 by Kerr Addison Mines Ltd, following an airborne magnetometer survey. Kerr Addison carried out EM, magnetometer, gravity, SP and geochemical surveying before allowing its claims to lapse.
Surrounded within a block of Pea cl 1-44 (86296) in May/64 by Dynasty Explorations Ltd, which carried out geophysical surveying later in the year.
Restaked as PB cl 3-10 (Y51809) in Apr/70 by Spartan Exploration Ltd, and as BP cl 1-10 (Y66205) in May/72 abd DP cl 1-8 (Y76311) in Oct/72 by Anvil Mining Corporation Ltd, which carried out geophysical surveying and drilled 2 holes (280.7 m) on claims DP2 and DP5 in 1973. The claims were transferred to Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation in 1975, which carried out Turam surveying in 1977 and drilled 1 hole (922 m) on claim BP cl 1 and 1 hole (493.5 m) on the Pea claims in 1980.
Control of Cyprus Anvil was sold to Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Ltd and subsequently to Dome Petroleum Ltd in 1981. Dome's interest was sold in 1985 to Curragh Resources Inc. F. Charlie and A. John staked Pelly cl 1-18 (YB12737) 1 km to the southwest in Dec/87 and optioned them to Welcome North Mines Ltd which carried out geological mapping and prospecting in 1988. In Nov/94 Anvil Range Mining Corporation acquired all claims owned by Curragh following the bankruptcy of the latter.
In Jan/98 Anvil Range filed for court protection in order to restructure the company. In Jan/99 Anvil Range¿s stock was delisted and the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.

Capsule Geology

The claims occur in an area of extensive overburden but are underlain by Lower Cambrian schist and phyllite of the Mount Mye formation and calcareous phyllite of the Cambrain to Ordovician Vangorda formation. Kerr Addison identified a cluster of small EM anomalies and two weak, non-coincident SP anomalies. The drilling intersected graphitic and pyritic sericite and biotite schist with bands of calc-silicate and greenstone containing weakly disseminated pyrite and a trace of pyrrhotite. The 1980 hole was drilled for stratigraphic purposes and intersected unmineralized phyllite with quartz-pyrrhotite alteration overprinting.
