Work History

Staked as Jake cl (72757) in Sep/56 by Prospectors Airways L, which conducted a ground magnetic and THM geochem survey and drilled six packsack holes (93 m) in 1957.
Restaked as Ted cl (93120) in Oct/65 by Anvil Mg Corp L (Dynasty EL and Cyprus ML), which conducted soil sampling, ground mag and EM surveys in 1966 and an IP survey in 1967. The Pat, etc cl (97684) were tied on to the west in Jan/66 by Yukon Copper L, which was reorganized into Northern Empire ML in Jul/67. Yukon Copper conducted an airborne mag and EM survey, and prospecting and soil sampling program in 1966.
Restaked as Neso cl (Y90843) in Sep/74 by J.P. Sawyer for Knobby Lake ML and optioned to Olympian Int Res L and Junex Res L, which added Nesto cl (YA3814) in Oct/75 and explored with 3 holes (460 m) later in the year. Junex changed its name to C.T. Exploranda in 1976.

Capsule Geology

The property is underlain by chert, siltstone, shale and conglomerate of the Ordovician to Lower Devonian River Formation, intruded by a small porphyritic stock. Disseminated pyrite, pyrrhotite and a trace of sphalerite in the sedimentary rocks have weathered to form a transported limonite gossan which attracted the first stakers.
Weak copper and zinc anomalies, an IP chargeability anomaly and broad magnetic highs occur nearby. The drilling tested an IP anomaly and encountered minor disseminated sphalerite, pyrrhotite and pyrite in a light green, possibly tuffaceous siltstone layer within a siltstone-quartzite-chert sequence. Local zones of fracturing and brecciation were also noted. The best assay was 1.3% Zn and 0.06% Cu across 20 cm in Hole 1. One of the holes was lost in overburden.
