Work History

The southwest side was originally staked as Bea cl 1-16 (86117) in May/64 by Dynasty Explorations Ltd and the northeast side was fringe staked as Fox, Mona and Snafu cl (94177) in Nov/65 by Frontier Exploration Ltd. The Bea group was later transferred to Anvil Mining Corp Ltd under a joint venture with Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation, and was explored with magnetometer and geochemical surveys. Frontier conducted magnetic and geochemical surveying in 1966 and a gravity survey on the south half of the property in 1967, before optioning its claims to Cominco Ltd, which drilled one hole (66 m) in 1968.
The Frontier ground was restaked in Jul/74 by Claymore Resources Ltd as MN cl 1-35 (Y79793) and was optioned in 1976 by Vangorda Project (Welcome North Mines Ltd and Getty Mines Ltd) which carried out geochemical sampling and magnetometer surveying in 1977. Claymore carried out linecutting and Vangorda Project drilled 1 hole (112 m) in 1979 and 1 hole (515 m) in 1982 on the MN claims.
Cyprus Anvil partially restaked the Bea, Fox, Snafu and Mona groups as Kit cl 1-92 (YA4730) in Jul/76 in a joint venture with Kerr Addison. Cyprus Anvil added Kit cl 93-117 (YA8988) in Jun/77 and carried out Turam and gravity surveying in 1977 and 1978 before purchasing Kerr Addison's interest in 1979. One drill hole (648 m) was completed on the Kit 117 claim in 1980.

Capsule Geology

The Bea group was staked on a small aeromagnetic anomaly in an area of extensive overburden. The drill hole on Fox cl 12 intersected chloritic and limy phyllite with minor pyrite and has been assigned to the Cambrian to Ordovician Vangorda formation. The 1979 drill hole also intersected Vangorda formation. The 1980 drill hole on the Kit cl 117 was collared in Vangorda formation and drilled through a carbonaceous phyllite horizon at the base of the Vangorda formation into phyllites of the Mount Mye formation. The 1982 drill hole was collared in Vangorda formation and drilled into graphitic phyllites at the base of the formation.
