Capsule

Work History

Staked as various Op claims (95786) in Dec/65 by Golden Gate Exploration Ltd. The claims later became involved in a criminal trial for alleged staking infractions and lapsed after an airborne magnetometer survey was flown in Sep/66.
Restaked as Lay cl 1-70 (Y12971) in Apr/67 by Golden Gate. Adjoining claims included Chain cl 1-8 (Y3708), staked in Apr/66 by Consolidated Novell Mines Ltd and Bank cl 1-8 (Y1757), staked in Mar/66 by Texmont Resources Ltd. Texmont carried out line cutting, magnetometer and EM surveying in 1966. The Lay and Chain groups were optioned early in 1967 by Cominco, which carried out geological mapping on both claim groups and soil sampling, ground magnetometer and EM surveying on the Lay group later that year. Golden Gate carried out further soil sampling in 1969.
Restaked as Echo cl 1-147 (Y61757), Delta cl 1-31 (Y62097) and Capa cl 1-44 (Y61509) in Jul/71 by Dynasty Explorations Ltd (80%) and Atlas Exploration Ltd (20%), which carried out mapping and soil sampling later in the year and ground magnetometer, EM and gravity surveying and drilled several holes in 1972 on geophysical targets in a joint venture with Midwest Oil Production Ltd, General Crude Oil Company and Aquitaine Company of Canada Ltd. Atlas changed its name to Cima Resources Ltd in 1974 and Dynasty was renamed Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation in 1975.
The Cyprus Anvil claims were sold in 1985 to Curragh Resources Inc, which drilled 3 holes (523 m), widely spaced on the Echo, Capa and adjoining Sea claims, in 1988. In Nov/94 Anvil Range Mining Corporation acquired all claims owned by Curragh following the bankruptcy of the latter.
In Jan/98 Anvil Range filed for court protection in order to restructure the company. In Jan/99 Anvil Range¿s stock was delisted and the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.

Capsule Geology

The claims cover a flat, swampy area with only a few scattered outcrops of Lower Cambrian slate and siltstone of the Mount Mye formation. No anomalies or mineralization were found on surface and the 1972 drilling failed to locate mineralization.
The 1988 holes tested gravity, EM and geochemical anomalies and intersected the Mount Mye formation. The only sulphides intersected was 0.4 m of semi-massive pyrrhotite associated with a quartz vein.
