Work History
Staked as Cub cl 1-88 (91380) in Dec/64 by Dynasty Explorations Ltd following an airborne magnetometer and EM survey. Dynasty entered a joint venture with Cyprus Exploration Ltd in Mar/65, and drilled six rotary holes (about 108 m) and carried out ground magnetometer and gravity surveying later in the year.
The claims were later transferred to a new company, Anvil Mining Corp Ltd and when they lapsed, the ground was restaked by Atlas Explorations Ltd (20%) and Dynasty (80%) as Capa cl 1- 44 (Y61509) in Jul/71 and Echo cl 1-147 (Y61757) in Aug/71 and explored during 1972 through a joint venture with Midwest Oil Products Ltd, General Crude Oil Company, and Aquitaine Company of Canada Ltd in conjunction with the Abraham occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #105K 041). Exploration in 1972 consisted of ground magnetometer, EM and gravity surveying and some drilling. Atlas changed its name to Cima Resources Ltd in 1974 and Dynasty changed to Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation in 1975. Cyprus Anvil drilled three holes (120 m) in 1976 and two holes (252 m) in 1978.
The Cyprus Anvil claims were sold in 1985 to Curragh Resources Inc, which carried out drilling in 1987. In Nov/94 Anvil Range Mining Corporation acquired all claims owned by Curragh following the bankruptcy of the latter.
In Jan/98 Anvil Range filed for court protection in order to restructure the company. In Jan/99 Anvil Range¿s stock was delisted and the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.
Capsule Geology
Dynasty Explorations staked an aeromagnetic anomaly 5.6 km long and up to 1.5 km wide in a flat area with little outcrop. The area is underlain by noncalcareous phyllite of the Mount Mye formation.
Drilling tested a coincident magnetic and gravity anomaly which was shown to be caused by disseminated pyrrhotite and bedrock topography. One drill hole intersected a trace of galena in a series of narrow quartz veins. Sulfide mineralization located during 1988 drilling consisted of minor late pyrite and chalcopyrite in thin local pegmatitic quartz veins. In hole 2 one of these veins returned 0.4 m of associated semi-massive pyrrhotite.
