Work History

Staked as Snowcap cl (96590) in Dec/65 by Vanmetal EL and explored with an airborne mag-EM survey, mapping, geochem and mag surveys and 3 holes (53 m) by Cominco in 1966 under an option; and with additional geochem sampling and trenching in 1967-68 by Vanmetals. The South and EM cl (99461) were tied on to the south in Feb/66 by Kim EL (Mid-West EL and Ventures Mg L), which explored with mag, EM and geochem surveys plus trenching in 1966.
Branta EL performed more mapping and geochem sampling in 1969 under an option from Kim. Restaked in Aug-Sep/74 as Ron cl (Y91095) of Univex Mg Corp L on the north and MAL cl (Y80379) of Welcome North ML on the south, and the adjoining Chap cl (Y79684) of Anvil Range Synd (DuPont and Teck) to the east and TER cl (Y80136) of Monore Met Corp to the southwest. Exploration consisted of mapping, geochem sampling, mag, recce IP and two lines of gravity on the Chap group in 1974; mapping and geochem sampling on the TER group in 1975, and mapping, geochem and Turam surveys on the MAL group in 1975 by Boliden-Preussag E under an option.
DuPont optioned the MAL group in 1976, restaked the Chap group as T cl (YA8360) in Oct/76, formed the Tenas JV with Western ML, and explored with mapping, geochem sampling and a gravity survey in 1977; gravity and airborne mag and EM surveys in 1978; and widespread drilling in 1979, of which 2 holes (216 m) were located on claims MAL 17 and 42 and the others were on the T group.
The option on the MAL group was terminated late in 1979 and the Tenas JV and Welcome North claims were optioned in 1980 by Cyprus Anvil. Exploration in the late 1980s detected anomalous gold and mercury in rock, soil and stream sediment samples in association with quartz-sericite-hematite alteration zones near a regional fault. The DuPont interest was transferred to CSA Mls Inc in 1984 and to Goldsearch Inc in 1985.

Capsule Geology

The claims were staked in an overburden-covered area near the interpreted contact between limestone, chert and tuff of the Permo-Pennsylvanian Anvil Allochthonous Assemblage and a mid-Cretaceous batholith. The 1966 drilling tested an EM conductor and intersected granite porphyry with a trace of pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite and barren limestone and phyllite. No mineralization was encountered in the 1979 drilling.
