Work History

Staked as Lap cl 1-8 (Y998) and Rat cl 25-72 (Y3936) (5 km south) in Mar/66 by J. Ladue. The claims were optioned by Atlas Explorations Ltd which carried out geological mapping and soil sampling on the Lap group, before transferring the claims to Anvil Mining Corp Ltd later in the year. Adjoining to the northwest, the DJ cl 1-6 and Pow cl 25-40 (Y5657) were staked in May/66 by Quatsino Copper-Gold Mines Ltd, Buchanan Mines Ltd and New Privateer Mines Ltd, which carried out ground magnetometer and EM surveying later in the year.
A. Carlos staked Barney cl 1-80 (YB97387) 3.5 km to the north in Apr/97 and carried out line cutting and geochemical sampling in 1998.

Capsule Geology

Galena float was reportedly found by Ladue in the valley at the northwest end of the Lap claims, Atlas failed to find any additional mineralization. The claims are underlain by Paleozoic quartzite and quartz-muscovite-biotite schist and granitic orthogneiss of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane.
Geochemical sampling of the Barney claims revealed rusty weathering siltstone, chert and sandstone as well as conglomerate but failed to detect any gold or base metal anomalies. Soil samples collected from frost boils in the central area of the claims returned a single high value of 30 ppb Au.
