Capsule

Work History

Staked as Fox cl (Y72124) in Jan/73 by Spartan EL and optioned by Canex Placer, which explored with grid soil sampling and mapping later in the year.
The adjoining MS cl (Y73710) to the north were staked in Jul/73 by the Selwyn Project (Dynasty EL, Atlas EL, Shield Res L and Numac O & GL), which carried out prospecting and grid soil sampling in 1973-74 and a mag survey in 1974. Shield and Atlas changed names in 1974, to Precambrian Shield and Cima Res L, respectively, and Dynasty changed to Cyprus Anvil Mg Corp in 1975.

Capsule Geology

The MS group is underlain by chert and shale of the Ordovician to Lower Devonian Road River Formation and the Devono-Mississippian Earn Group which lie between small intrusions of syenitic feldspar porphyry to the northeast and syenite to the southwest. A trace of chalcopyrite was found with disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite in a hornfels-skarn zone near the contact. A northwest trending magnetic anomaly was obtained over the pyrrhotite-rich zone. The phosphate mineral variscite was also identified.
The Fox group was staked on a silt anomaly obtained in 1968 and is underlain by shale, sandstone and limestone cut by intrusive dykes. No mineralization was found.
