Work History
Staked as Ted cl (Yl6586) in Oct/66 by Atlas EL, which mapped and sampled in 1966-67. Restaked as Test cl (Y64576) in Jul/72 and Aug/73 by Barry Watson and A. Harman, and as Tan cl 1-96 (YA28319) in Apr/78 and Mar/79 by Sovereign Metals Corporation, which built a tote road to the property and explored with mapping and trenching in 1979 and 1980.
Capsule Geology
The property is underlain by Devono-Mississippian shale, chert, quartzite and limestone. Barite occurs in concordant layers and as vein-stockwork zones. Barite beds are up to 10 m long and average 20 to 30 cm thick, and are spaced 3 cm to 70 m apart.
The best zone (A) is up to 4 m thick and 80 m long and assays 85 to 95% barite. Reserves of 725 tonnes per vertical metre were calculated for this zone.
The largest concentration of barite veins occurs in Zone B, 600 m south of Zone A, where five veins were trenched within a 210 m wide stockwork complex. One vein contains quartz breccia with sulphides. Selected specimens assayed up to 0.4% Pb, 1.6% Zn, 48.0 g/t Ag and 0.18 g/t Au.
A geochemical survey outlined four weak Pb-Zn-Ag anomalies.
