Work History

Staked as the Lake cl (89143) and Glenna cl (89250) in June and Aug/65 by Norquest JV (Anaconda, Asbestos Corp., Bralorne Pioneer, Granby, New Jersey Zinc and Utah) which explored with mapping, sampling and a mag survey in 1965 and 1966. The claims reverted to the original prospectors and were optioned in 1967 by Monarch Met ML, which built a 19 km tote trail in 1968 and explored with bulldozer trenching and 12 holes (453.8 m) in 1969. In 1970, Monarch optioned the property to Silver Mark ML, which trenched and drilled 18 holes (1624 m).
The CU cl (Y41901) and Ace cl (Y41933) were tied on to the north and south, respectively, in Jan/70 by Welland Cons Mg L, which bulldozer trenched on the Ace group later in the year. The Ace group was restaked as Ace cl (Y71617) in Mar/73 by Dual Res L; and as ECL cl (Y74877) in Jun/74 by Denu M & Dev L and Tandem Res L. The ECL cl were then transferred to Dual Res L in 1975 and trenched in 1978 and 1979.
The Lake and Glenna groups were restaked as Marg cl (YA33061) in Jun/78 by Tungco Res Corp and Morning Star ML, which trenched in 1979 and drilled 7 holes (641.0 m) in 1979 and 2 holes (282.9 m) in 1980. J.C. Turner added Arm cl (YA35915) to the west in Feb/79 and transferred the group to Denu M & Dev L and later to Armor Res L, which performed trenching later in the year.
Restaked Apr/92 as part of a group of 96 Con cl (YB38403) by Placer Dome Inc, which performed reconnaissance prospecting and sampling later in the year.

Capsule Geology

Up to 25 concordant skarn layers with an average thickness of 0.9 m occur in an 80 m thick sequence of Devono-Mississippian limestone, greywacke and argillite which has been traced for a distance of more than 8 km. Most skarn development occurs within 120 m of the Cretaceous Billings Batholith.
The two main showings are the Cliff zone to the northwest and the Lower zone, 2.4 km to the southeast. Mineralization consists of pyrrhotite, sphalerite and galena with minor chalcopyrite and scheelite in epidote-diopside skarn.
The Cliff zone has been traced for 1067 m and is up to 15.8 m thick. Chip sampling of trenches by R.G. Jury in 1970 gave assays of 1.5% Pb, 2.5% Zn and 195.4 g/t Ag across 9.8 m and 1.9% Pb, 1.3% Zn and 92.6 g/t Ag across 15.52047 m. 1970 drilling results were erratic and the best intersection was 1.3% Pb, 2.3% Zn and 68.6 g/t Ag across 7.1 m.
The Lower zone has received less work, and the best assay reported was about 3% Pb, 7% Zn and 171.4 g/t Ag across 2.3 m.
In 1992, Placer Dome explored the area for Fort Knox-style gold mineralization, but obtained no significant results. Work in 1996 resulted in the discovery of a 1m wide shear zone which returned 2.3% Pb, 1.25% Zn and 41.3 ppm Ag from a selected grab.
