Work History

The area was explored in the mid-1970¿s by Hudson Bay Exploration and Development Company Ltd following a large airborne geophysical survey. No work was carried out in the vicinity of this occurrence.
Discovered in the summer of 2001 by Steve Gordey of the Geological Survey of Canada during reconnaissance geological mapping carried out under the Finlayson Lake Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI), a jointly funded geological mapping program carried out by the Yukon Geology Program and the Geological Survey of Canada.
Staked in Sep/2002 as Good Grief cl 1-6 (YB94265) by I. Elash. Elash carried out a minor amount of prospecting at the time of staking.

Capsule Geology

The area is located in the northwest portion of the Finlayson Lake massive sulphide district, southeast of the Robert Campbell Highway. Geological mapping by Murphy et al. (2001), shows that the area is underlain by a large body of meta-plutonic rocks assigned to the Early Mississippian age Grass Lakes Plutonic Suite. A large roof pendent comprised of rocks assigned to the Upper Devonian to Lower Mississippian (?) Fire Lake metavolcanic unit (DF) and the underlying Upper Devonian and Older (?) quartz-rich met-clastic unit lies within the meta-plutonic body.
Gordey reported gossanous chloritic and sericitic phyllite assigned to the Fire Lake metavolcanic unit, containing zones of semi-massive sulphide, mainly pyrite. Five rocks samples returned up to 835 ppm copper, 3 079 ppm arsenic and 163 ppb gold.
