Capsule

Work History

Staked as Andy (YB34210) and Jeff (YB34214) cl for Cominco Ltd in Nov/91. Cominco performed a small geochemical survey in Aug/92.

Capsule Geology

The region is underlain by weakly deformed and slightly metamorphosed Silurian to Triassic sedimentary rock units of the North American miogeocline. The Inconnu Thrust, which lies to the southwest, separates North American rocks from Yukon-Tanana Terrane rocks to the south. Cretaceous granite intrudes the North American rocks, and undeformed Eocene basalt, rhyolite and gabbro also occur throughout the area.
The claims are underlain by Devono-Mississippian Earn Group shale and limestone and Siluro-Devonian Askin Group dolomite, quartzite and argillite. A mid-Cretaceous quartz monzonite stock lies several kilometres to the northeast.
Lenses of massive galena, sphalerite and pyrite with traces of chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite occur in quartz veins which parallel a 225/65° foliation in argillite and siltstone. The mineralization is exposed in a small gully. The best of several chip samples taken in 1991 returned significant values of lead, zinc and silver over a width 1 m.
