Work History
Staked as Wolv cl (YB14572) in Aug/88 by Noranda. Restaked by Cominco Ltd. as LY cl (1-15) (YB48925) in May/94. In Jul/94 Cominco surrounded the LY claims with a large block of Tag cl 559-1114 (YB50436).
Earlier, in Apr/94 Cominco staked the Major cl 1-10 (YB47446) 8 km to the southwest. Cominco also staked the EL cl 1-8 (YB48917) 3.5 km to the southwest in May/94 and the Limy cl 1-9 (YB49654) 1 km to the northeast in Jun/94. These three small claim blocks appear to cover geophysical anomalies.
In Oct/95 Ruza Resources Ltd staked Taurus cl 1-60 (YB70255) 8 km to the northwest and subsequently optioned to Curion Ventures Corporation which carried out prospecting and geochemical rock and stream sediment sampling in 1996.
Capsule Geology
The Finlayson Lake region is dominantly underlain by a layered sequence of Devonian to Early Mississippian metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane (YTT) that have been intruded by Mississippian granitic intrusions and later Jurassic, Cretaceous and Eocene intrusions (Murphy et al., 2001). The YTT is a volcanic-plutonic pericratonic arc assemblage that was strongly deformed and metamorphosed by Late Triassic time. Volcanic-hosted massive sulphide deposits exist at different stratigraphic positions within the YTT.
The claims were staked in an area of extensive overburden that is mapped as being underlain by Mississippian chlorite-muscovite-quartz phyllite schist of Murphy et al.'s (2001) unit Miv.
