Work History
Staked in Oct/72 as Irene cl (Y70425) by A. Harman in an area explored by Atlas EL in 1966-67. Harman conducted reconnaissance soil sampling in the late fall and optioned the claims to Vestor EL, which added the Fish cl (Y73969) in Aug/73 and conducted a small geochem program before dropping the option.
Restaked as Irene cl (Y93995) in Feb/75 by R. Darney & A. Harman and sold to Mountaineer ML, which performed mapping and soil sampling in 1976 and 1977. In 1978, SEREM L performed more mapping and geochem sampling under an option.
Capsule Geology
Sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, tetrahedrite, pyrite and pyrrhotite, occur skarn in a sequence of limy siltstone, shale and quartzite of Devonian age within the hornfelsed aureole around the Cretaceous McEvoy stock and a smaller pluton, one km away from the main intrusion. The mineralized skarn lies adjacent to quartz-carbonate-barite veins up to 0.3 m wide, and grades up to 3.0% Zn, 0.5% Cu and trace Pb over a length of 15 m and a width of 5 m. Traces of sphalerite are also present in white limestone.
Soil sampling outlined a 1000 by 330 m coincident Pb-Zn anomaly overlying dolomite and limestone.
