Work History

Staked as Pay cl (Y13133) in Jul/66 by P. Risby and R. McBean and optioned by Atlas EL, which built a winter road and explored with geophysics, geochem sampling, bulldozer trenching and 17 packsack holes (210.0 m) in 1967. In 1968, 25 holes (1899.2 m) were drilled west of the original showing under a joint venture with Mitsui Mg & Smelting and the property was later transferred to a new company, Fortin Lake ML (95% Atlas, 5% Mitsui). The Atlas interest was transferred to Cima Res L in 1974.
The adjoining Pal cl (YI9483) was tied on to the northwest in Oct/67 by Spartan EL and explored with mapping and soil sampling in 1968. Fortin Mg performed minor trenching in 1977.
Restaked as Mike cl (YB14554) in Jul/88 by Archer, Cathro.

Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by weakly deformed and slightly metamorphosed Silurian to Triassic sedimentary rock units of the North American miogeocline that have been intruded locally by Cretaceous granite. Yukon-Tanana Terrane rocks far to the south have overthrust North American miogeoclinal rocks and are separated from them by the Inconnu Thrust.
The property is underlain by carbonate and quartzite. Regional mapping (Murphy et al., 2001) shows the occurrence to be underlain by Devono-Mississippian Earn Group. A single mineralized outcrop was found, consisting of brecciated, silicified limestone, which assayed 3.4 g/t Au, 123.4 g/t Ag, 17.2% Pb and trace Zn. Disseminated sphalerite float was found elsewhere by trenching.
Most of the drill holes intersected graphitic or limy phyllite with minor sections of the silicified host limestone unit that assayed about 5.3% Zn, 2.8% Pb, 34.3 g/t Ag and 0.7 g/t Au. Some of the deeper holes intersected Road River Formation shale (Ordovician to Lower Devonian) containing up to 2% zinc.
