Work History
This showing was first staked in Sep/54 as the Axe cl (69414) by T.O. Connolly, and was optioned to Berens River Mines Ltd, a subsidiary of Newmont. It has been restaked frequently since - as Rum cl (72354) in Mar/56 by L. Romfo and W. McKinnon, as Jacobs cl (88427) by P. Poggenburg in Aug/63, and as Bell cl 1-48 (Y28330) in Oct/68 by W. Hyde. The Bell claims were optioned during 1970 by the Caltor Syndicate (Rayrock Mines Ltd; Canada Industrial Gas & Oil Ltd; Ashland Oil Canada Ltd), which performed geochem sampling, mapping and hand trenching.
Restaked as Ram cl 1-8 (YA70304) in Aug/83 by A. Mercier.
Capsule Geology
Nine small copper showings containing bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and covellite occur as lenses and veinlets in Cambrian to Ordovician amygdaloidal basalt. The best assays of 0.76% Cu over 3.7 m came from Zone 3. Average grades are about 0.1% Cu and 0.34 g/t Ag. Barren calcite-quartz-barite veins also occur on the property. Soil sampling outlined numerous erratic Cu and Ag (usually coincident) anomalies. The largest anomalies are attributed to Zone 3.
