Work History
Staked as Hal cl (YA24455) in Jun/79 by Amax Potash L, which explored with mapping and geochem surveys in 1979 and 1980. Agip Can L staked RPF cl (YA51223) 1.6 km to the southeast in Aug/80, and conducted geophysical surveys in 1980 and geochemical surveys in 1981.
Capsule Geology
Scheelite occurs in three garnet-pyroxene skarn zones on the Hal group. The skarns formed at the contact between Lower Cambrian limestone and the Cretaceous Dycer Stock. Scheelite content is erratic and most mineralized specimens returned between 0.1 and 2% WO3. The highest grade material is often associated with pyrrhotite, and one piece of pyrrhotite-rich float from the north end of the property assayed 13% WO3. Minor veinlets of bornite and pyrite were found in nearby siliceous marble.
Geochemical surveys outlined several anomalies in talus downslope from the mineralized skarns, and two other anomalies in overburden-covered areas on the Hal group, but only background values were obtained on the RPF group.
