Work History

Staked in Sep/54 as Strike cl (69765) by Conwest, which hand trenched in 1955. Restaked in Feb/65 as Lap cl (89047) by Silver Key ML, which explored with geochemical surveys and bulldozer trenching in 1967 and by 85.3 m of cross-cutting, drifting and raising in 1968-69. The underground development was financed through a joint venture with Stump ML.
Silver Key changed its name in 1972 to Nordev Res L. Restaked as D cl (Y64621) in Aug/72 by A.M. Riba and associates, who transferred the property in 1976 to a new company, Iona Silver ML. Iona carried out bulldozer trenching in 1976 and 1977, and added OK cl (YA25460) in Aug/77. I. Jacobsen tied on Reo cl (YA46935) to the north and west in Feb/80. Kon cl (YA70934) were tied on to the west in Mar/84 by a joint venture between Canamax Res Inc and Pacific Trans-Ocean Res L. Canamax optioned the Iona property in 1985 and performed mapping, geochem and geophysical surveys in 1985, drilled 8 holes (604 m) in 1986 and explored with mapping, mag and Max-Min EM surveys and 2 holes (139 m) in 1987. Iona changed its name to Aigner Holdings L in Dec/89 and transferred the Kon cl to Canamax in May/89.

Capsule Geology

The Lap 10 vein strikes 045o and dips 30o northwest and cuts Cambro-Ordovician phyllite. It is intermittently exposed on surface for a length of 137 m and contains a fairly continuous band of galena about 0.3 m wide. Channel sampling by Silver Key ML indicated a grade of 1200.0 g/t Ag and 38% Pb over a width of 1.07 m, for its 137 m length. Underground development, less than 25 m below the surface outcrop, did not locate significant mineralization.
At least five other weaker showings occur within 1200 m to the east.
