Work History
Staked as Fox cl (Y9927) in Aug/66 by Atlas EL, which conducted trenching later in the year. Restaked as AL cl (Y51982) in May/70 by M. Currie and as JW cl (Y59171) in Sep/70 by D. Smith, and as HP cl (Y76663) in Aug/73 by P. Poggenburg.
The northern occurrence was restaked as Wimp cl (YA8250) in Sep/76 by Utah ML, which explored in 1977 with EM surveys, mapping and grid soil sampling.
The south showing was staked as Grew cl (YA18310) in Jun/77 by Amax, which explored with mapping, geochem and EM surveys in 1977 and 1978, added more Grew cl (YA48243) in Sep/79, and performed geochem and an airborne Mag-EM survey in 1981.
The Red cl (YA24805) were fringed to the southeast in Jul/Oct/79 by A. Mercier, who restaked a point 3 km south as Fox cl (YA78234) in Aug/83.
Capsule Geology
Both showings consist of banded, fine grained galena, sphalerite and tetrahedrite in a quartz-carbonate gangue occurring in a cherty horizon in Upper Devonian and Mississippian carbonates. Selected specimens collected by Atlas assayed up to 438.9 g/t Ag, 22.8% Pb and 12.5% Zn.
The north showing consists of four thin bands 20 to 30 cm thick. The south showing is associated with interbedded argillite and felsic volcanic flows and tuffs on the east side of two small biotite quartz monzonite plugs. Minor chalcopyrite is associated with disseminated pyrrhotite in volcanic rocks while traces of molybdenite occur in the intrusions.
