Work History

Staked by E. Erickson and associates in 1954 as Onyx cl and in Apr/55 as Oxo cl (70340), which were transferred to Oxso Silver Mg & SCL and explored with hand trenching in 1955-53 and 2 x-ray holes (100 ft) in 1959. Restaked as Oxo cl (75628) in Apr/61 by W.B. Green and P. Versluce, who hand trenched until 1968, when the property was optioned by Trans Yukon EL and explored with bulldozer trenching, geochemical and EM surveys in 1968 and 22 holes (1524.3 m) in 1969. In Sept/94 H. Regehr et al. dug 28 trenches and removed 2,141 m3 of material from the Oxo claims.
A. Kopinec optioned the property in 1978 and performed hand trenching. E. Kopinec and H. Regehr trenched on the Oxo showing in 1985 and 1991.
Fringe claims include John cl (77310) in Nov/61, Moon cl (Yl6630) in Oct/66 and Star cl (Y74098) in Aug/73 to the west and south by A. Kopinec; and Joe cl (Y16290) to the south in Sep/66 by M. Carey. Noranda tied on Katz cl (YA90545) to the east in Feb/86, which were restaked as Stack cl 1f-13f and MP cl 1-20 (YB00106) in Mar/8 by Mountain Province Mining Inc, which carried out geochemical soil sampling in 1988 and geological mapping in 1989.

Capsule Geology

Galena, pyrite and a trace of sphalerite and chalcopyrite occur in a 30 x 6 m pyrrhotite lens which is conformable with bedding in Lower Cambrian limy argillite. An irregular quartz vein containing sporadic arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite occurs 15 m to the southeast. The following surface assays were reported:

Description Ag Pb Cu Zn Au
(g/t) (%) (%) (%) (g/t)
2.4 m chip sample by Woodcock 329.1 12.0 - - -
3.7 m chip sample by GSC 349.7 12.7 0.03 0.4 0.7
Average of 5 channel samples
by A.E. Aho, W. Montgomery,
& A. Parker - 2.6 m width: 291.4 10.3 - - 0.3
Grab sample of quartz vein 10.3 - 7.7 - 0.3
The drilling tested a strike length of 370 m and encountered spotty mineralization. The best intersections were 2.5% Cu, 58.3 g/t Ag across 1.3 m in Hole 21 and 4.7% Pb, 123.4 g/t Ag across 2.7 m in Hole 8.
A lead-zinc-silver anomaly in the centre of the MP claims coincides with the faulted contact between Cambro-Ordovician limestone and phyllite and Devono-Mississippian graphitic shale. An anomaly on the southern MP claims appears to be associated with galena-bearing quartz-carbonate float and quartz stringers with purple fluorite.
