Work History
Staked as Kay cl 1-32 (69843) in Oct/54 by H. Versluce for British Yukon Exploration Company, which carried out prospecting, geological mapping and trenching in 1955 and added Pyrite cl 1-4 (71410) on the southwest side in Sep/55.
Restaked as part of a large block of Sharon cl 1-122 (Y17579) in Apr/67 by Northwest Explorers Ltd (International Utilities Ltd and Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Company Ltd) which carried out soil geochemical sampling later that year.
Restaked as Pescod cl 1-12 (YA90287) in Sep/85 by S. Patnode and transferred to S. Case who carried out geochemical soil sampling in 1986. B. Hall staked Pescod cl 29-31 (YA91273) in Aug/86 contiguous with the northwest corner of the existing claims. In 1987, the property was optioned by Consolidated Rio Plata Resources Ltd which carried out prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveying, bulldozer trenching and staked Cop cl 23-41 (YB01012) in Aug/87 and Pescod cl 32-33 (YB01302) in Sep/87 to surround the original claims on three sides.
Restaked as Jumbo cl 1-4 (YB89999) in Sep/97 by J. Dodge who carried out prospecting, geochemical sampling and VLF-EM geophysical surveying in 1998.
Capsule Geology
Galena and sphalerite occur with chalcopyrite and tetrahedrite in quartz-barite-fluorite veins, fracture zones and breccia zones, and disseminated in wall rock. The veins and breccia (shear?) zones cut Upper Cambrian to Lower Ordovician limestone and dolomite and overlying Upper Devonian carbonates and Lower Mississippian phyllite and mafic volcanic rocks.
Re-trenching in 1987 and 1998 of the main showing (`Trench 6 area¿) revealed two sub-parallel sulfide bearing veins. The principal target being a large north-south trending vein containing massive galena with minor clots of pyrite, sphalerite, quartz and calcite. Assaying of samples of this mineralization produced a weighted average of 68.25% Pb, 2.02% Zn and 2 069 g/t Ag over a true thickness of 2 m and 18.89% Zn, 7.38% Pb and 191 g/t Ag over 3.5 m of width 25 m along strike to the north. Soil sampling suggests that this vein has a possible strike extension of at least 450 m, while geophysics identified a prominent bedrock electromagnetic conductance zone extending for 120 m north from the showing.
