Work History

Staked as two separate groups in Jun/81, the NC cl 1-8 (YA61247) by G. Asuchak 1.6 km south and Ren cl 1-4 (YA60302) by R. Fendrick 1.6 km north. Asuchak restaked the Ren claims as Sam cl 1-2 (YA78272) in Aug/83; added Lake cl 1-2 (YA93800) 1.6 km to the west in Oct/85; restaked the Ren claims as Solid cl 1-4 (YA96514) in Nov/86 by R. Asuchak; added Lone cl 1 (YA95598) 1.6 km south in Aug/86. Also during this period R. Fendrick staked Tuf cl 1-2 (YB97115) in Mar/87 and R. Trudeau staked Sherri cl 1-2 and Jessie cl 1-2 (YB21668) 3 km to the south in Sep/87.
Restaked by L. Carlyle and M. Fuerstner Jr, as part of a large block of claims that parallel the South Big Salmon River valley; Cam cl 1-126 (YB97530) were staked in May/97; Cam cl 127-142 (YC07943) were staked in July/97; and Cam cl 143-146 (YC08748) were staked in May/98. Carlyle and Fuerstner carried out geochemical rock and soil sampling, EM and magnetometer surveying in 1997; geochemical rock and soil sampling and bulldozer trenching in 1998; geological mapping, limited geochemical rock and soil sampling and EM geophysical surveying in 1999; and geochemical soil sampling 4 km to the north and geochemical soil sampling and machine trenching 2 km to the east in 2000. Carlyle staked Cam cl 157-214 (YC40019) contiguously to the east of the existing claim block in Jul/2005 and carried out limited magnetometer surveying during this period.

Capsule Geology

The occurrence is underlain by a package of steeply dipping, metamorphosed terrigineous clastic and carbonate rocks consisting of quartz-sericite schists, chlorite schist and silicified limestone mixed with quartzite. The rocks are Paleozoic in age and show greenschist to lower amphibolite metamorphic grades. A strong north-northwest trending structural fabric predominates the area and is expressed as a series of faults and/or shear zones which parallel the Big Salmon Fault which runs throughout the area just west of the claim block.
Quartz-calcite veins, some of which are boudinaged, occupy the fault/shear zones and are commonly about 0.5m in width. Most appear barren at surface except for traces of oxidized pyrite, sampling by Carlyle showed an increase in anomalous gold, arsenic and copper values in samples that displayed strong iron and manganese staining and/or contained graphitic material.
The occurrence is flanked by Summit Creek to the south and Lake Creek to the north, sampling in 1997 returned a peak soil value for Au of 898 ppb from the ridge north of Summit Creek. Sampling of a 0.5m quartz vein in the creek bed below the ridge returned 1 446 ppb Au with 143 ppm As. Soil samples collected on the ridge north of Lake Creek returned more consistently anomalous values with 7 of 18 samples returning >50 ppb Au, trenching in 1998 exposed silicified quartz-sericite schist that returned 169.9 ppb Au over 20.5 m.
No significantly anomalous results were obtained from the 2000 work program which was carried out in areas peripheral to the occurrence.
