Work History

Staked as Fox cl (Y54329) in Jul/70 by F. Smith and as Pet cl (Y61212) in Jun/71 by J. McGundy, who did only minor hand trenching and prospecting. The Axe cl (Y58247) were tied on to the northeast in Aug/70 by J. Shorty and restaked as Sem cl (Y66823) in Jun/72 by P. Sevensma. This area was explored in 1972 by United Keno Exploration (a joint venture between United Keno Hill ML, Falconbridge Nickel ML and Canadian Superior EL) by detailed soil sampling and mapping but no claims were staked.
Restaked by O. Davis as the Dave and SM cl (YA95192) in Jul/86 and optioned to Noranda ECL, which performed grid geochem, mapping and IP surveys and hand trenching in 1987.

Capsule Geology

A 50 m wide, 750 m long fracture zone cuts lapilli tuff of the Upper Triassic Lewes River Group, which also includes basalt flows and limestone. Rocks within the fracture zone are propylitically altered and contain small pods of fracture filling and disseminated bornite, malachite, azurite and specular hematite and visible gold. A chip sample across a well mineralized face assayed 1.2% Cu, 5.1 g/t Au and 27 g/t Ag over 1.5 m but unbiased sampling returned low values.
A small area of disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrite was found in basaltic volcanics 1.6 km to the north by United Keno. Thirteen grab samples of the best mineralization returned 0.1 to 1.77% Cu and 3.4 to 22.6 g/t Ag.
