Work History
Staked as the Tally-Ho cl 1-8 (YA77869) in Jun/83 by Tally-Ho Exploration Company Ltd, which explored by geological mapping, geochemical surveys and prospecting between 1983-85, 6 percussion holes (663 m) in 1985, and bulldozer trenching and 3 diamond drill holes (182 m) in 1986. The property was optioned by Academy Resources Ltd, which performed mapping and sampling in 1987.
A portion of the prospect was restaked as the Moosehorn cl 1-4 (YB46520) in Oct/93 by R.S. Berdahl.
Restaked as Draft cl 1-4 (YB66299) by G. Lee in Oct/95. Lee also staked Draft cl 5 (YB66303) and fractional cl DB 1 (YB66304) at the same time. The Draft cl 12-39 (YB96264) were added in 1996. Ownership of the claims is evenly split between G. Lee and M. Power. The partnership conducted geological mapping, prospecting, silt sampling, and total field magnetics/VLF-EM surveys in the same year. In Aug/97 the partnership staked Draft cl 40-69 (YC08125) and completed prospecting, trenching, sampling and HLEM surveys.
Capsule Geology
The occurrence is underlain by Late Cretaceous granodiorite intruded by numerous dikes of varying composition. Disseminated galena, argentite and chalcopyrite occur in fine grained Eocene Skukum Group rhyolite dikes. Two large composite grab samples of malachite stained rhyolite float from an area about 10 m across averaged 3620 g/t Ag, 4.7% Pb, 0.2% Cu and 0.34 g/t Au. Drilling produced disappointing results.
Two new showings of mineralized quartz veins were located during the 1996 program; both northeast of the original Silver Queen occurrence. The Carmen's Drift returned assays up to 6.7 g/t Au, 100 ppm Ag, and 2.4% Pb. No Man¿s Land returned up to 1.8 g/t Au, 100 ppm Ag, and 1.46% Pb. A third showing, 400m east-southeast of No Man¿s land returned 7 000 ppb Au but was found to be of limited extent.
