Work History
Staked as Scar cl 1-16 (YA81904) in May/84 by Noranda Exploration Company Ltd, which carried out geological mapping and geochemical rock and stream sediment sampling in Oct/84; staked Scar cl 17-34 (YA86261) in Dec/84; and geochemical rock, soil and stream sediment sampling and geological mapping in 1985.
Omni Resources Inc staked Kim cl 1-52 and Ker cl 1-31 (YA92781) to the east in Jul/85 and Skukum Ventures Ltd staked Kid cl 1-194 (YA93156) to the south in Aug/85. Omni carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 1986, optioned the Scar and Kid claims and carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling, magnetometer surveying and drill site construction in 1987.
The Scar claims were subsequently returned to Noranda, which drilled one hole (300 m) in 1988. The Ker, Kim and Kid claims were transferred to National Trust Company in Sep/91, which carried out bulk sampling and line cutting on the Kid and adjoining WH, Ern, Omni and Tree claims (Minfile Occurrence #105D 022). The Scar cl 17-24 (YB38180) were restaked in Aug/93 by E. Bergvinson and the following year in May, Bergvinson's partner, D. Jacob restaked the Scar cl 1-16 (YB46802). In July/94 Jacob and Bergvinson carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling on their combined Scar claims.
Restaked as LB cl 1-27 (YB67028) in May/96 by BYG Natural Resources Ltd. In Oct/96, the claims were transferred to Omni Resources Inc and Trumpeter Yukon Gold Inc, which had earlier formed a joint venture to develop these and other claims in the area. In Nov/2000 Omni amalgamated with Trumpeter to form Tagish Lake Gold Corporation.
Capsule Geology
The claims are underlain by granitic rock that is cut by a plug of rusty weathering rhyolite feldspar porphyry of the Eocene aged Mount Skukum Volcanic Complex. Pyrite, galena, sphalerite and minor chalcopyrite are disseminated in three silicified shear zones that appear to be unrelated to veins or fracture systems, while hematite, sphalerite, pyrite, bornite, and chalcopyrite occur in quartz-carbonate veins. Specimens returned up to 2.8% Zn, 0.2% Pb, 0.05% Cu, 390 g/t Ag and 1.9 g/t Au.
The 1988 drill hole which tested on the the shear zones did not intersect any significant mineralization.
