Work History
Staked as JJ cl 1-24 (Y23444) in Feb/68 by G. St. Jean and J. Bunberry. Restaked as Wolf cl 1-6 (Y67800) in Dec/72 by S. Takacs, who built a road in 1973 and drilled several short holes (22.6 m) in 1984. Restaked by S. McKeown as Red Chief cl (YB27601) in June 1990.
Restaked as Grouse 1-5 claims (YB37473) by S.J. Takacs in Sep/92. Restaked as Red Chief 1-2 (YB57725) by S. McKeown in Jun/95. In May/96 Pacific Galleon Mining Corp surrounded the Red Chief claims with Peel cl 1-37 (YB66824). Pacific Galleon optioned the neighboring Nana and Protector claims from McKeown. At the same time the company also acquired a ¿first right of refusal¿ on the Red Chief claims, which McKeown trenched and sampled in Aug/96. In the summer of 1996 Pacific Galleon completed a data compilation, reconnaissance prospecting and soil geochemistry program over the Peel and other neighboring claims. In May/98 ownership of the Peel claims was transferred to B. Carter who carried out prospecting, auger and stream sediment sampling with B. Scott, before subsequently transferring title to Scott in Sep/98.
In Sep/99, Scott transferred ownership of the Ba, Peel and Marie (previously transferred to him by Takacs in Oct/97) claims to McKeown who immediately carried out trenching (Protector cl 3), reclamation work (Red Chief cl 2) and soil geochemical sampling (Nana cl 1 & 2 and Ba cl 7 & 8).
During 2000, McKeown carried out additional reclamation work and excavated a cut face on Red Chief cl 2.
Capsule Geology
The claims were staked near a contact between Upper Triassic Lewes River Group limestone and Early to Middle Jurassic, Laberge Group conglomerate. McKeown staked the Red Chief claims in part to cover dimension stone deposits. Pacific Galleon Mining Corp concentrated their work program on the Peel, Protector and other claims located 1.5 km to the west. No work was completed on or near the Red Chief claims.
No significant mineralization was encountered during sampling by Scott in 1998 of Peel cl 32-34 and samples collected by McKeown in 1999 on the Red Chief claims were not submitted for analysis.
Only physical work was carried out in 2000 and no description of the cut face was filed with the assessment report for this period.
