Work History

Staked as Fleming cl in Jul/09 by H.E. Porter, who with W.J. Fleming had completed one hand trench by the time D.D. Cairns of the Geological Survey of Canada visited and described the property in Sep/09.
Restaked as Mary Ann cl 1-8 and 11-14 (91565) in Jan/65 by Yukon Antimony Corporation Ltd, which carried out bulldozer trenching later in the year; as Ant cl 1-4 (Y5967) in May/66 by A. Pearse and A. Johns, who added Lee cl 1-6 (Y8357) in Jun/66; as XL cl 1-8 (Y24069) in Mar/68 by J.B. O'Neill for Idaho Silver Mines Ltd; as Jif cl 1-8 (Y33887) in Apr/69 by W. Hyde; and as Toby cl (Y78776) in May/74 by E. Bergvinson.
In Apr/77 the occurrence was restaked as Ridge cl 1-4 (YA8895) by D. Lampert on behalf of a syndicate which staked Ridge cl 5-9 (YA18082) in Jun/77 and carried out bulldozer trenching before transferring the property to a new company, New Ridge Mines Ltd, late in 1978. New Ridge carried out trenching and magnetometer surveying in 1979; EM surveying and drilled seven percussion holes (530.4 m) in 1980; and restaked the property as Ridge cl 1-4 and 7-15 (YA86417) in Jan/85 before carrying out geological mapping and sampling later in the year.
Walhalla Exploration Ltd tied on Tech cl 1-18 (YA82362) to the south in Jun/84; added Tech cl 22-40 (YA92145) in Jun/85; carried out grid geochemical soil sampling; and staked Rain cl 1-43 and Wind cl 1-18 (YA93045) to the north and west, repectively, in Sep/85. Shakwak Exploration Ltd staked Charlie cl 1-16 (YA82409) 5 km northeast in Jun/84 and Newhawk Gold Mines Ltd staked Sheep cl 1-12 (YA86152) in Nov/84. In 1985, Newhawk carried out prospecting and geochemical soil sampling of the Sheep claims and Shakwak carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling of the Charlie claims.
In May/86 Shakwak transfered the Charlie claims to Berglynn Resources Ltd, which then optioned the adjoining Walhalla and New Ridge properties and carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 1986 and 1987. In Jun/88, the Wind and Rain claims were transferred to Northern Natural Resource Services Ltd, then to Aquiline Resources Inc, which carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling later that year. A few of the Ridge claims were transferred to Kennco Exploration (Canada) Ltd in Sep/88. Berglynn Resources restaked Tech cl 6 (YB26465) in Jul/89 while Aquiline performed blasting and hand trenching on the Wind and Rain claims in 1989. G. Davidson restaked the Charlie claims as AP cl 1-16 (YB35750) in Mar/91.
The occurrence was restaked as Ark cl 1-11 (YB36914) in Jul/92 by R.W. Hulstein. Berglynn changed its name to Arkona Resources Inc in Mar/92. In Dec/93, some of the Tech and Ridge claims were transferred to 276 Taurus Ventures.
Omni Resources Inc optioned the Tech claims in 1995 and restaked Tech cl 5 and 14 (YB97766) in Jun/97. By 1999 Omni had earned a 60% interest in the claims and on July 23/99 Arkona transferring 100% ownership of the claims to Omni. In Nov/2000 Omni amalgamated with Trumpeter Yukon Gold Inc to form Tagish Lake Gold Corporation.

Capsule Geology

The original showing (Fleming) consists of discontinuous 8 to 25 cm wide lenses of chalcopyrite, bornite, specularite and pyrite within garnet-epidote-calcite-magnetite skarn, which forms two horizons up to 10.1 m thick within a roof pendant of Upper Proterozoic and Paleozoic Nisling assemblage schist in mid-Cretaceous granodiorite.
A new sphalerite-galena showing (Lampert) was discovered in 1978. The best assay from the 1980 drilling, which tested magnetic anomalies, was 0.6% Zn and 0.05% Pb.
The 1984-86 soil sampling and prospecting programs on the various peripheral claim blocks outlined numerous geochemical anomalies and located a number of quartz veins, none of which produced significant assays.
Aquiline Resources¿ sampling in 1988 followed up quartz-chalcedony breccia float located east of Dawson-Charlie Creek in 1986 in an area approximately 4.5 km east-northeast of this occurrence location. Low order gold, silver, lead and barium anomalies were outlined near the northern boundary of their claims and were thought to represent dispersion downhill from vein-type mineralization previously located on the adjoining claims that is reported to have returned 113 000 ppb Au.
