Exploration History

Staked as Surething and Jackaloo cl (Y83189) in Aug/74 by R.J. Fleming and optioned during 1975 by United Keno E (United Keno Hill ML & Falconbridge Nickel ML), which mapped and geochem sampled later in the year. Restaked as CAL cl (YA68884) in Aug/82 by DC Synd (Dome & Cominco), which explored with mapping and sampling in 1982 and mapping and a mag survey in 1983.

In Apr/97 Fairfield Minerals Ltd staked C.C. cl 1-30 (YB89112) 7 km to the south. The company staked C.C. cl 31-44 (YB89977) in Sep/97.

In 1998, Fairfield conducted a soil sampling program.  The program identified coincident anomalous Cu, Pb and Zn values extending northwest from the “Discovery Showing”, as well as high gold soil geochemical values at the “claim post showing” to the north. Blast trenching was completed at both showings, returning anomalous gold values to 338 ppb from the Claim Post showing (Jakubowski and Balon, 1998).

In April 1999, Brett Resources Inc. optioned the CC 7-54 claims from Fairfield Minerals and conducted a brief program of geological mapping and limited rock sampling. The claims were later allowed to lapse.

In 2017, Overland Resources (BC) Ltd staked the MM 1-42 claims and in 2018, Overland added the MM 43-184 claims, extending the claim block to the north and southwest. Later in 2018, Geotech Ltd. conducted a helicopter-borne Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) and magnetometer survey across the entire property.

In 2020, Overland conducted a small program of prospecting, rock and soil sampling.

Capsule Geology

The showing is underlain by highly deformed limestone and clastics of the Mississippian Englishman's Group, intruded by Cretaceous granite and granodiorite. Chalcopyrite and bornite occur as pods along tension fractures in a skarn-hornfels zone at the contact. Gangue minerals include pyrrhotite, pyrite, magnetite, specularite and fluorite.

Three main areas of mineralization were identified. An actinolite-tourmaline-garnet skarn containing magnetite, pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite is exposed over an area 80 by 125 m on the Cal 13 claim. A chip sample returned 0.03% Sn and 0.008% W over 2.5 m.

At the centre of the claim block, a skarn zone about 30 m long is developed at the contact of a 30 m wide limestone lens. Magnetite and chalcopyrite are present in bands up to 3 m wide. The best assay returned 1.13% Cu and 43.9 g/t Ag over 3 m.

At the southeast corner of the property, a skarn zone 7 m long and 5 m wide returned an assay of 11.7% Cu and 390.8 g/t silver across 2.4 m. A nearby specimen of limestone with minor erythrite assayed 0.76% Co and 14.4 g/t Ag.
