Work History

Investigated in 1971-72 with mapping and sampling by Wolf Lake JV (Ashland 0 Can L, Rayrock ML, Can Ind G & OL, Caltor Synd). First staked in Mar/85 by Archer, Cathro as GRA cl (YA73149), which were sold to Nordac Mg Corp and optioned to Shakwak ECL. Shakwak added a large block of SHA cl (YA73348) to the SE in Jun/85 and explored with mapping, sampling and hand trenching later in the year, and mapping, soil sampling and bulldozer trenching in 1986 and 1987. Nordac changed its name to Big Creek Res L in 1987 and carried out geochem sampling and hand trenching in 1988.

Capsule Geology

The discovery showing consists of a 30 m long float train consisting of black manganiferous gossan fragments containing minor galena. This was interpreted as a vein cutting a sequence of interbedded schist and limy phyllite near the contact of the Marker Lake Batholith. A specimen assayed in 1971 returned 3771.3 g/t Ag, 1.2% Pb and 4.0% Zn, but a more representative composite sample of gossan material assayed only 72.0 g/t Ag, 1.5% Pb and 2.1% Zn.
The best trench cut in 1986 returned 3291.3 g/t Ag over 76 cm from a nearby massive galena lens. The galena occurs in a 0.9 to 1.2 m wide, manganese and goethite stained vein zone that trends 085° and was traced for a strike length of 30 m.
