Exploration History

Staked as Omo cl (Y42598) in Aug/70 following an airborne mag and EM survey by Boswell River ML, which explored with ground mag and Turam surveys and 496.7 m of drilling (3 holes) in 1971. Restaked as Pine cl (YA36939) in Jun/79 by Klinkit JV (DuPont of Can EL & Duval Corp), which explored with mapping, geochem and mag surveys later in the year. R. Stack tied on the WM cl (YA36149) to the north in Mar/79 and trenched later in the year. N. Bastien restaked the WM group as Ray cl (YA68535) in Jun/82.

Restaked as Lake cl (YB09580) in Nov/87 by First Yukon Silver Res Inc, which trenched in 1988 and did road construction in 1989. B. Komish tied on Bardy cl (YB16141) to the south in Aug and Sep/89 and performed road work in 1991 and 1992. First Yukon Silver tied on Amber cl (YB33360) south of the Bardy claims in Aug/90 and trenched on the Amber, Pine and Lake cl in 1991, and constructed roads on the Amber cl in Aug/92. Cominco Ltd optioned some of the Lake and Pine cl in 1992 but relinquished its option in Nov/93.

In Apr/97 Birch Mountain Resources Ltd restaked the occurrence as Road cl 1-27 (YB89034). The company also staked Kill cl 1-51 (YB89061) to the south. In Jul/97 Birch Mountain staked Pine cl 1-44 (YB89799).

The property was later staked by H Hibbing and T. Liverton. In 2007, Yukon Zinc Corporation optioned the property and conducted reverse circulation drilling. The claims covering the Oulette occurrence portion were later allowed to lapse.

In 2018, P. Bojtos staked the Find claims covering the occurrence and in 2020 completed MMI soil sampling, prospecting and re-evaluated some of the historic trenches.

Capsule Geology

Diamond drilling on the occurrence in 1971 encountered shale mixed with groundup intervals of black, magnetic sand. One of the holes cut 45 cm of weak mineralization assaying 1.2% Zn, 1.3% Pb and 126.9 g/t Ag and the drill logs reported that black sand (magnetite) up to 64.6 m thick was present in the overburden over the magnetic anomaly. The 1979 work showed that the 1971 drilling intersected black calcareous phyllite of probable Devono-Mississippian age.
