Work History

Staked as Tung cl (Y64066) in Aug/71 by Wolf Lake JV (Rayrock ML, Ashland Can Oil L, and Can Industrial G & OL), which conducted grid soil sampling and mapping in 1972. Restaked as ON cl (YA44808) in Jul/79 by Regional Res L, which explored with mapping and geochem sampling later in 1979 and 1980. Klinkit JV (DuPont of Can EL & Duval Corp) added J cl (YA44081) to the east in Jun/79 and performed mapping and geochem sampling later in the year.

Capsule Geology

Scheelite occurs with minor pyrrhotite in garnet-diopside-tremolite skarn developed in limy portions of Cambrian or older sedimentary rocks at the margin of a small granodiorite batholith. Chip samples from a float train about 300 m long and up to 7 m thick assayed up to 0.5% WO3 and 0.01% Mo. Scheelite also occurs as disseminations in pegmatite. Rare molybdenite, galena and sphalerite were also reported. Skarn also occurs locally with minor scheelite, pyrrhotite and rare chalcopyrite in carbonate-cemented meta-grit.
The J group, staked on a GSC tungsten anomaly, is underlain by unmineralized roof pendants within the pluton.
