Work History

Staked as Valley and Camp cl (56283) in Aug/46 by A.L. Musselwhite for Anson-Cartwright Mining Ltd (Coniagas Mining Ltd).
Restaked as MW cl 1-28 and 31-48 (YA33049, etc) in June and July 78 by DC Syndicate (Dome Mines Ltd & Cominco Ltd), which carried out geological mapping and contour soil sampling in 1978 and geological mapping, trenching and geochemical and geophysical surveys in 1979.
Restaked in Dec/92 as Tin cl 1-16 (YB35238) by H. Hibbing.
Restaked as Punt cl 1-30 (YB75446) by Nordac Resources Ltd in Feb/96 which carried out a program of geological mapping, prospecting, hand trenching and grid soil sampling in 1996.
Nordac Resources Ltd was reorganized in Jun/01 and renamed Strategic Metals Ltd.

Capsule Geology

The claims are underlain by the Screw Creek Limestone and the Swift River Assemblage, a succession of late Paleozoic allochthonous rocks whose terrane affinity is in question. The contact with the nearby Cretaceous Seagull Batholith is found along the northern edge of the Punt claim group.
Two showings of barite-lead-zinc mineralization are found within the metasediments and occur mainly as veins and lenses containing barite, dolomite, quartz, pyrite, galena and sphalerite, and also as narrow bands, fracture fillings and dissemination within the wallrocks. Chip sampling on the No. 1 showing returned 1.5 % Pb, 2.4 % Zn and 19.5 ppm Ag over 3.7 m. Trenching of the second showing, 600 m to the northeast, exposed weakly mineralized metasediments. Float boulders downhill from the trench returned 1.1% Pb, 4.3 % Zn and 25.7 ppm Ag.
Minor tin bearing skarns with traces of copper and zinc also occur along the contact between the metasediments and the Seagull Batholith, 2 km northeast of the No. 1 showing.
