Work History

Staked as Cea cl 1-60 (YA71248) in Jun/84 by Noranda Exploration Company Ltd, which performed geological mapping, detailed stream sediment sampling and prospecting before adding Cea cl 61-72 (YA72489) in Oct/84. Noranda carried out a two stage program in 1985, completing grid soil sampling and geological mapping in June and trenching and prospecting later in the year.
Restaked as FG cl 1-14 (YB75476) by Nordac Resources Ltd in Feb/96 which carried out a program of geological mapping, prospecting and grid soil sampling.
Nordac Resources Ltd was reorganized in Jun/01 and renamed Strategic Metals Ltd.

Capsule Geology

The claims are underlain by the Swift River Assemblage, a succession of mostly Paleozoic allochthonous rocks whose terrane affinity is uncertain.
The Cea claims were staked to cover a 1978 GSC stream sediment anomaly (6 300 ppm Ba and 1.6 ppm Ag). Prospecting located specimens of baritic siltstone float assaying up to 34.6% Ba, and hornfelsed argillite and kaolinized granite containing tourmaline, pyrite and pyrrhotite with values of up to 300 ppm Cu, 4 400 ppm Sn, 110 ppm Pb, 2.2 ppm Ag, 80 ppb Au and 8200 ppm Ba.
Soil surveys outlined three types of anomalies: (1) narrow linear Cu-Ag-Zn; (2) isolated As (up to 310 ppm) and Au (up to 370 ppb); (3) Ba-Ag-Pb. Trenching of the third anomaly type uncovered an area of intense kaolinite alteration in schist and phyllite that assayed up to 1 480 ppm Pb, 5.6 ppm Ag and 1% Ba.
Nordac concluded that the Ba-Ag-Pb soil anomalies were probably due to galena-bearing quartz veins, samples of which returned sub-economic silver and lead assays.
