Work History

Staked by Cominco in Jul/43 (recorded in Jul/44) as Bach, etc cl (4283), which were hand trenched. Restaked as Tungsten cl (60290) in May/51 by P. Rodstrom for Yukon Tungsten Corp L, which drove a 161.5 m adit and 71.6 m raise and installed a 45.4 tonne mill that produced 465 units of concentrate between 1951 and 1953. This work was partially financed by Chillicopper Corp L. Fringe claims were acquired during this period by Whitehorse Tungsten CL (Ajac, etc 60351); and by Yukon Mg CL and Amalgamated Yukon ML (Minx, etc 60402).
Restaked as Lum cl (73084) in Aug/57 by K. Lumsden; and as Hope, etc. cl (75748) in Jun/61 by P. Fisher & P. Bochon, who transferred them to Farmont Mg Synd and Native Mls L. Restaked in Jul/68 and Jun/69 by Silver Seven ML as Luck, Morn and Seven cl (Y27694), which were mapped, soil sampled and bulldozer trenched in 1970-71 by Amax EL under option, mainly on the breccia zone, and explored with more trenching in 1976. R.C. Coutts tied on Windy cl (Y73598) in Jul/73. The showing was fringe staked as Bug and Piggy cl (Y74547) in Mar-Oct/74 by Delphi Res L and optioned in 1979 by a joint venture composed of Serem, Pan Ocean and Amax, which drilled one hole (587 m) in 1979 and two holes (1019 m) in 1980. The adjoining ULY cl (YA21704), staked by R. Osborne to the west in Aug/77 and trenched in 1978 by Goraco Mls L, were optioned with the Silver Seven claims in 1979. The Serem-Pan Ocean-Amax joint venture drilled one hole (549 m) in 1981 before dropping its options in 1982. Delphi's claims were transferred in 1983 to Goldex Res Inc, which trenched in 1987. First Yukon Silver Res Inc tied on Odie cl (YB590) to the east in Jul/87.
The north half was restaked as Fiddler cl (YB11911) in Apr/88 by M. Neilson, who prospected and sampled in 1989.
Restaked in Jun/92 as 2 Jarret cl (YB34926) by B. Kreft. Restaked as Clover cl 1-2 (YB60242) by H. Bochon in Aug/95.

Capsule Geology

A series of en echelon quartz veins that cut Cambrian phyllite and limestone near the contact of the Cassiar Batholith are mineralized with wolframite, cassiterite, scheelite, fluorite, stannite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena, pyrrhotite and pyrite. Scheelite also occurs in a 610 m long silicified breccia and vein stockwork (Fiddler East Zone) and in minor amounts in local skarns which may be indicative of a buried intrusion. Bladed wolframite crystals 8-10 cm long are common close to surface. Cassiterite is more common in narrow subsidiary veins than in the main vein and occurs as small grains in the quartz. Although the showings are close to the Cassiar Batholith, the mineralization is believed to be related to Early Tertiary igneous activity, based on an age date obtained by Sinclair from sericite in one of the veins.
The best assay reported by Native Minerals from the Fiddler West showing was 569.1 g/t Ag, 0.2% Cu, 3.2% Pb, trace tin and 0.7% tungsten across a 0.9 m width. In the Fiddler East Zone, samples across widths of 0.3 to 2.1 m assayed 0.06 to 0.54% tungsten with traces of lead, zinc and copper. The original showing trenched by Yukon Tungsten Corp L assayed 8.45% WO3 across a width of 0.34 m, for a length of 30 m. Samples of clean wolframite assayed 0.2% Sn, the same as composite samples of vein mineralization. The concentrate produced in 1953 graded 54.6% WO3, but could not be sold.
Later work was directed toward disseminated mineralization nearby. The best mineralized section in the 1980 drilling was 38 m of skarn grading 0.07% WO3. The North Showing, situated one km north, consists of 15 cm of massive galena in a northwest-trending shear zone.
