Work History
First staked in Mar/52 by V.E. Thompson as Jax cl (60644), which were optioned in Feb/53 by Amal. Yukon ML. Restaked in Aug/61 by E. Krysko as Luck cl (76755) which were optioned by Scurry Rainbow OCL in Nov/61, by Mt Grant ML in 1968 and by Silver Seven EL in 1969. Work included SP, EM, soil sampling, trenching and 13 holes (780.3 m) by Scurry Rainbow in 1962 and further trenching and sampling in 1967 to 1969.
Restaked in Sep/73 by A. Black as A & B cl (Y74248), and sold in 1974 to Delphi Res L, which explored the property and performed mapping and soil sampling in 1974 and 1975. Optioned in 1977 by Serem L, which explored with a gravity survey in 1977, then drilled 9 holes (597.4 m) in 1978 in a joint venture with Pan Ocean OL. More mapping was performed in 1979, when Amax entered the joint venture. After the option was dropped in 1982, the A & B claims were transferred in 1983 to Goldex Res Inc, which explored with geochem and IP surveys in 1984, 3 holes (96.6 m) in 1985, and more bulldozer trenching in 1986, 1987. Further work in 1989 included lengthening existing trenches and biogeochemical sampling.
Capsule Geology
A calcite vein 1.2 to 1.5 m thick cuts Cambrian limestone near the margin of the Cassiar Batholith. Mineralization consists of fine-grained sphalerite and pyrite containing lenses of massive galena up to 15 cm long and 7 cm thick.
The mineralized vein coincides with a gravity anomaly which is open along strike to the northeast. Multi-element soil geochemical anomalies were identified 0.5 km and 1 km ENE of the main showing.
Silver Seven discovered a second vein (Pete) about 1.6 km north and recognized scheelite in the 1962 drill core. The scheelite occurs in quartz-calcite veinlets cutting Lower Cambrian phyllite and specimens assay as high as 1% WO3. Some of the best assays reported from the property are: 1268.5 g/t Ag, 43.6% Pb, 4.5% Zn, 0.05% Cu, 0.1% Sb and 0.2 g/t Au (GSC selected specimen from Luck vein); 5455 g/t Ag, 34.6% Pb, 1.9% Zn, and 1.4 g/t Au across 10 cm (Sevensma chip sample from Pete vein); and 140.5 g/t Ag, 6.1% Pb and 9.7% Zn across 3.0 m (Scurry Rainbow Hole 1).
Goldex interpreted these veins as saddle reefs. In 1989, several biogeochemical samples were taken close to the main showing and one sample was collected from a silver-lead-zinc soil anomaly 1 km ENE of the main showing. Twig samples from jack pine returned values up to 289 ppm Pb, 4174 ppm Zn, and 340 ppb Au. Two trenches in the main showing area were enlarged but no new mineralization was uncovered.
