Capsule

Work History

Staked as LJL cl 1-582 (YB75690) in Feb/96 by Cominco Ltd. In Apr/96 the company flew an airborne survey over the region, the results of which led Cominco to stake LJL cl 583-606 (YB85933) in Jul/96. Later in the summer Cominco carried out a regional scale geological mapping and contour soil sampling program on the the claim block.
In 1997 Cominco concentrated their exploration efforts on the northeastern portion of the claim block, where they conducted geological mapping, prospecting and further soil sampling.

Capsule Geology

This area has not been remapped by the Yukon Geology Program, but the rocks appear to be correlative with the upper succession of the Yukon-Tanana terrane as mapped by Murphy (1999) in the Finlayson area. Cominco reported good outcrop exposure on the property and mapped westward dipping felsic and intermediate volcanics with rhyolites occurring at the top of the package in the eastern portion of the property, with predominately felsic volcanics in the western part of the property.
Peak values of 1 282 ppm Cu, 862 ppm Pb, 891 ppm Zn and 4.4 ppm Ag were returned from three soil samples collected along the trend of the inferred contact between porphyritic, intermediate and felsic volcanic units in the area.
Pyrrhotite mineralization occurs within the volcanic units and the showing, which lies at the south end of the anomalous trend, contains pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena in felsic volcanics. It is found near the head of a creek flowing northwest in the vicinity of LJL cl 597.
