Work History

Originally staked within GE cl 433-456 (YA58728) in Mar/81 by Shell Canada Resources Ltd on the behalf of George Kent & Associates Ltd following a Mark VI airborne EM survey. The claims were part of a larger block (800+) of GE claims which were staked to cover more than 500 geophysical anomalies identified in the airborne survey. Kerr Addison Mines Ltd optioned the entire claim block in May/82, and carried out soil sampling and geophysical surveys on the "F" and "C" grids.
Restaked as GMN cl 1-64 (YB14079) in Jun/88 by Glimmer Resources Inc which allowed the claims to expire the following year. The company restaked the claims as GMN cl 1-56 (YB15854) in Aug/89 and carried out a two-frequency Max-Min 11 electromagnetic survey in 1990.
In Aug/89 Frame Mining Corporation staked Eagle cl 1-30 (YB16163) and cl 38-121 (YB16200) to the south and east as protection claims around the neighboring Sa Dena Hes prospect (Minfile Occurrence #105A 012). Frame Mining added Eagle cl 122-125 (YB16685) in Oct/89 and transferred ownership in all the claims to 833051 Ontario Ltd in Nov/89. In Jan/90 the company added Eagle cl 126-138 (YB16713) to its holdings.
Restaked as Jay cl 1-122 (YB69779) in Oct/95 by Minfocus International Inc. In Jul/96 the company carried out line cutting and reconnaissance geological mapping, soil sampling and VLF-EM and magnetometer geophysical surveys.

Capsule Geology

The area is mostly overburden-covered and has not yet been re-mapped by the Yukon Geology Program. The area appears to be underlain by limestone and clastic sedimentary rocks, which Gordey (1999) assigns to the Carboniferous and Permian Anvil Assemblage. These rocks may correlate to Murphy and Piercey¿s (1999) Pennsylvanian to Permian Campbell Range Succession. Some thin fault wedges of Tertiary volcanic rocks are also likely present.
The 1981 airborne geophysical surveys outlined coincident EM and magnetic anomalies with an indicated westward dip. Good grade base metal-bearing float and weakly mineralized outcrops were found near the airborne anomalies. However, no significant anomalies were detected by the 1990 Max-Min 11 survey.
Minfocus International Inc concentrated their work on the north and south ends of the Jay claim block. Soil sampling returned numerous single element spot anomalies. Due to the scarcity of the survey grid the geophysical survey returned inconclusive results.
