Work History
Acquired as Coal Exploration Licence #61 in Oct/76 and as Licence #113 in Oct/79 by Placer Dev (Canex Placer), which explored with trenching in 1977 and mapping and sampling in 1977 and 1978.
The prospect now lies within an area withdrawn from staking due to land claims. In Jun/97 H. Caesar staked Jay cl 1-6 (YB89302) 1 km to the north. In Jul/97 Caesar Staked Fox cl 1-6 (YB89451) 3 km to the east.
Capsule Geology
Coal seams 0.5 and 0.65 m thick are exposed in trenches at two localities 2 km apart. The coal is Upper Paleocene or Lower Eocene in age and of lignite A or B rank. The seams are hosted by a highly deformed sequence of claystone, siltstone and minor sandstone, which exhibits upward fining and thinning and is interpreted as a point bar sequence produced by a meandering stream.
