Work History

Staked in Sep/65 as Heather 1-8 cl (89327) by Norquest JV (Anaconda, Asbestos Corp, Bralorne Pioneer, Granby, New Jersey Zinc and Utah) which explored with hand trenching and mapping in 1966.
Restaked as Key cl (Y22295) in Dec/67 by J.C. Turner, and optioned to Athabasca Columbia Mg L, which carried out mapping, grid soil sampling, mag and EM surveys in 1968.
Restaked by Turner in Aug/71 as Tam cl (Y64238) and optioned to a joint venture between Getty Mg Pacific and General Crude OL, which explored with mapping, a mag survey, hand trenching and 7 holes (764.4 m). The property was then geochem sampled by Dynasty EL in 1973 and optioned in 1974-75 by Vieco Res L and Whipsaw Res L, which hand trenched and sampled in 1974.
Restaked as Rio cl (YA44872) in Ju/79 by Ramrod Mg Corp, which performed hand trenching in 1980, and transferred part of its interest to Vancliffe Res Corp, which drilled 7 holes (1079.0 m) in 1981.

Capsule Geology

Several skarn sulphide showings occur in interbedded limestone and siltstone of the Cambro-Ordovician Rabbitkettle Formation near the contact of a large quartz monzonite stock. The East Creek showing (1968 Zone 2) consists of pyrrhotite with lesser amounts of galena, sphalerite and quartzite associated with a 3 by 5 m patch of skarn, and in a 18 by 1 m replacement band in limestone. Two 1968 channel samples averaged 4.2% Zn, 1.5% Pb and 65.1 g/t Ag across 2.4 m.
The 1972 drilling tested 300 m of the intrusive contact along strike from the East Creek showing, including two magnetic anomalies, with disappointing results. The best assay was 2.3% Zn, 0.01% Pb and 1.0 g/t Ag in Hole 2. The 1981 drilling also tested the East Creek zone and gave a best intersection of 0.5% Pb, 3.7% Zn, 0.04% WO3 and 13.7 g/t Ag over 1.3 m.
Another showing (1968 Zone 1) is exposed in a creek bank 1.6 km to the southeast and consists of a local replacement of limestone extending up to 90 cm into the wallrock bounding weak vein faults. A sample collected from a hand trench in 1972 assayed 4.0% Zn + Pb and 13.7 g/t Ag across 7.3 m.
A third zone consisting of 10 to 30% pyrrhotite with traces of galena and sphalerite in hornfels occurs about 1.6 km to the northwest.
